German shares gain 0.43 pct Tuesday

German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 54.57 points, or 0.43 percent, to close at 12,749.12 points.

Energy group E.ON won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.1 percent. Industry giant Thyssenkrupp and German airlines Lufthansa rose by 1.39 percent and 1.29 percent respectively.

Reinsurance company Munich Re lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.58 percent. Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen and tire specialist Continental went down by 0.77 percent and 0.67 percent, respectively.

E.ON was the most-traded share with a turnover of 237.35 million euros (258.42 million U.S. dollars). Endit
