Number of tourists in BiH up 7.5 pct year-on-year in March

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) received 75,521 tourists in March, registering an increase of 7.5 percent year-on-year, figures from BiH's Agency for Statistics showed on Tuesday.

There were 156,256 overnight stays during the month, a 9.3-percent increase year-on-year, according to the data.

Of the overall number of recorded overnight stays, the number of domestic tourists accounted for 33.4 percent, whereas that of foreign tourists was 66.6 percent, the statistics agency said.

Among the overnight stays of foreign tourists, those from Croatia made up the biggest group in March (24.4 percent). They were followed by tourists from Serbia (10.8 percent), the United Arab Emirates (8.8 percent), Italy (6.2 percent) and Slovenia (5.9 percent).

Tourism in BiH is a fast-growing sector, making up an important part of the country's economy. In recent years, BiH has seen a stable growth in the number of foreign tourists. Endit
