Namibia is set to further expand its relations with Brazil, a top Namibian official said here Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made the remarks on Monday, during an official visit by Brazil's Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira.
"Our bilateral relations have been cordial but there is scope for expansion to cover many socio-economic areas of mutual interests," Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
She noted that some progress has been made in the logistics sector, following the opening of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group office in Sao Paulo with the aim to facilitate a direct shipping line between Brazil's Santos Port and Namibia's Walvis Bay.
"This Santos-Walvis Bay direct shipping line has the potential to increase the trade volume between Namibia and Brazil and would immensely benefit landlocked SADC member states," Nandi-Ndaitwah added.
She also called for continue cooperation between the two countries at multilateral forums. Endit
