As many as 60 buses arrived at outskirts of the Barzeh neighborhood in northern Damascus on Monday, to transport rebels and their families toward the rebel-held province of Idlib, the state TV said.

The rebels' evacuation from Barzeh is the latest in a string of rebel departures from the vicinity of the capital toward rebel-held areas in northern Syria. (Syria-Evacuation)

PARIS -- Centrist Emmanuel Macron won the 2017 French presidential election with 66.1 percent of the votes cast in a runoff over the weekend, the updated final results published Monday by the French Interior Ministry show.

The results took into account both the votes cast in the French European continent on Sunday, and those in the French overseas territories on Saturday. (France-Election)

GENEVA -- The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) told Xinhua Monday that around 245 migrants are feared to have lost their lives in two separate shipwrecks that took place off the Mediterranean Sea over the weekend.

According to UNHCR spokesperson Cecile Pouilly, the first shipwreck took place Friday night when a boat carrying 132 people capsized in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea. (UN-Refugees)
