JSE slips Thursday as subdued commodity price continues

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) closed weaker on Thursday, after U.S. Fed's indications of an expected interest rate hike in June.

The gold price traded weaker at 1,229.07 U.S. dollars an ounce. Platinum's spot price was 0.62 percent lower to 901.05 dollars per ounce.

The South Africa rand traded at R13.65 to the dollar at 5:00 p.m. (CAT), more than 1 percent weaker than on Wednesday.

The all-share index closed 0.34 percent softer at 53 406.31 points, with the blue chip top 40 index lifted up 0.36 percent to 46 747.06 points. Endit
