The Syrian government on Wednesday accepted the Russian proposal of creating "de-escalated zones" in Syria, the Foreign Ministry said.

DAMASCUS -- The Islamic State group withdrew from the Syrian city of Tabqa in northern Syria on Thursday, as the city has become completely under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, a monitor group reported. (Syria-IS)

TEHRAN -- At least 35 miners were killed in a coal mine explosion in the northern Iranian province of Golestan on Wednesday, Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei was quoted by Tasnim news agency as saying Thursday.

The accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. local time (0815 GMT) in Zemestan Yourt mine near the city of Azadshahr. (Iran-Mine-Blast)
