Urgent: Duke of Edinburgh to retire from public duties

The British Queen Elizabeth's husband, Duke of Edinburgh, is to retire from royal duties this autumn, Buckingham Palace announced Thursday.

The decision was made by Duke of Edinburgh himself who turns 96 next month and is supported by the Queen, a palace spokesman said.

An emergency meeting of royal staff has been called at the palace to be told of the decision. Endi
