Chinese foreign ministry responds to KCNA commentary

Xinhua, May 4, 2017 Adjust font size:

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Thursday reiterated that China's position on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is consistent and clear.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) issued a commentary on Wednesday, urging Chinese newspapers to "refrain from making reckless remarks undermining the DPRK-China relations."

China's stance on developing its good neighborly and friendly relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is also consistent and clear, spokesman Geng Shuang said at a daily press briefing, when asked to comment on the KCNA commentary.

He said China has always viewed and dealt with relevant issues in a fair and objective manner.

China is always devoted to achieving denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, maintaining peace and stability on the Peninsula and promoting dialogue and consultation, Geng said.

"We hope relevant parities will shoulder their due responsibilities and contribute to regional peace and stability, as well as people's well-being," Geng said. Endit
