Singapore stocks close 0.28 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 9.19 points, or 0.28 percent, to close at 3,228.62.

A total of 2.24 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.25 billion Singapore dollars (894.75 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 252 to 229.

The STI index gained 26.7 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 3,237.81 on Wednesday. Endit
