The following are news highlights in major Kenyan media outlets on Tuesday:

-- Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday went full-throttle in his campaign for re-election, asking Kenyan workers to vote for him in the August general election as he increased their minimum wage by 18 percent.

Noting he had worked hard in his first term in office, the president added that aside from increasing the minimum wage, the non-taxable bonuses and overtime would also increase to 1,000 U.S. dollars. He also announced the creation of the Kenya Labour Market Information System, which he said would be a one-stop shop for finding and advertising work. (Daily Nation)

-- Kenyans marked the Labour Day amid gloom and fear among workers in different sectors as companies continue to sack employees. (The Standard)
