Hong Kong stocks closed down 83.35 points, or 0.34 percent, to 24,615.13 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,563.77 and 24,697.03. Turnover totaled 65.40 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.41 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 4.08 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 3,175.44.

A total of 2.0 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.58 billion Singapore dollars (1.13 billion U.S. dollars). Decliners outnumbered gainers 258 to 218.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as investors opted for profits as earnings season here swings into gear and ahead of a run of national holidays starting next week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 55.13 points, or 0.29 percent, from Thursday to end the day at 19,196.74.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 4.02 points, or 0.18 percent, to settle at 2,205.44. Trading volume stood at 263 million shares worth 5.64 trillion won (5 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,768.06 down 0.14 points or 0.01 percent, and the Emas was at 12,631.52 up 18.03 points or 0.14 percent.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 89.54 points on Friday, up 0.22 points or 0.25 percent against the previous trading session.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 717.73 points on Friday, up 1.2 points, or 0.17 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Friday up 0.50 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 5.10 points to reach 1,034.12 points after closing.

SYDNEY -- The Australian market has finished flat on Friday, marginally higher with financial stocks lifting the index out of trouble.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 2.60 points or 0.04 percent at 5,924.10, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 3.20 points or 0.05 percent at 5,947.60.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Friday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 1.13 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 345.04.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 21.73 points, or 0.38 percent, to a level of 5,685.29 on Friday.
