Xinhua, April 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

The Liberian government has hailed the Chinese government's support in all fronts during a groundbreaking ceremony held in the capital Monrovia for the execution of a ministerial complex and legislative annex building projects .

Liberian leader Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, while acknowledging the Chinese government's assistance so far, said on Thursday the two milestone projects will bring "a great relief to various ministries and agencies of the government still operating from outdated buildings that do not meet current daily realities."

The west African country's Public Works Minister William Moore commended the Chinese government for providing funds for the construction of the projects.

The construction costs a whopping 60 million U.S. dollars. Upon completion, the two buildings will include offices, meeting rooms, large auditoriums, multi-purpose halls, archives, canteen, and also auxiliary facilities such as water pump house, power distribution and generator room, among others.

The ministerial complex, which seats atop 24,000 square meters of land, is designed to accommodate all government ministries and agencies with 1,300 people.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chinese ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue noted the projects represent another milestone in China-Liberia relations.

Zhang described the construction as the brainchild of the mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Liberia, adding this will further strengthen the subsisting friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Endit
