Spanish Civil Guards detain man with suspected links with al-Qaida

Spanish Civil Guards on Saturday detained a 43-year-old Egyptian man with suspected links to al-Qaida, Spanish state TV network, RTVE reported.

The man, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant, was detained in the town of Segovia, around 80 kilometers to the north of Madrid.

He is suspected of being part of a terrorist network and had previously been under investigation in Germany for connections to an al-Qaida cell which was uncovered in Hamburg in 2002.

Both German and Egyptian intelligence services are reported to have collaborated in the investigation. Endit
