Yanbian suffer six-match winless streak

Xinhua, April 22, 2017 Adjust font size:

Yanbian Fude losted to Tianjin Teda 1-3 in the 6th round of the year's Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday, extending their winless streak to six.

Teda defeated Yanbian twice in the 2016 season. Although two sides got a goalless first half, Tianjin took the upper hand in 90 minutes. Qiu Tianyi's header broke the deadlock in the 58th minute after receiving his teammate's freekick. Three minutes later, Hu Tianyi's fantastic volley shot helped the home team enlarge its advantage to 2-0.

Yanbian always play badly on road, facing a embarrassing eight away matches winless streak in the CSL before today's match. Teda's third duly arrived in the 67th minute when Mbaye Diagne's header was punched straight to Brown Ideye by Chi Wenyi and the Teda striker slotted into an empty net from the edge of the area.

Yanbian's Steve Trawally pulled one back through a penalty in the 83rd minute, but it was too little time to get more goals for Yanbian.

Yanbian coach Park Tae-Ha said after the match that he would accept full responsibility for the disappointing results.

In the other CSL game played on Sunday, Shanghai Greenland defeated Guizhou Hengfeng 2-0, climbing to the 5th place in the standings. Endit
