Xinhua, April 20, 2017 Adjust font size:

China's lottery sales rose 6.3 percent year on year to 37.9 billion yuan (5.5 billion U.S. dollars) in March, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Sales of welfare lottery tickets increased 3.8 percent year on year to 19.8 billion yuan last month, while sports lottery sales went up 9.2 percent to 18.1 billion yuan, the ministry said in a statement.

Last month, 24 provinces and regions saw growth in lottery sales, driven by strong performance in Hubei, Gansu, Jiangxi, Chongqing and Henan, according to the ministry.

Under lottery management rules, money from ticket sales must cover administrative fees, public welfare projects and prize money. Endi
