One of the executives at Lotte Group, South Korea's fifth-biggest family-run conglomerate, was grilled Friday by prosecutors over corruption allegations embroiling former President Park Geun-hye who was impeached and arrested.
So Jin-sei, chief of Lotte's committee for social contribution, was summoned earlier in the day by prosecutors who are investigating the corruption scandal involving former President Park, according to local media reports. (South Korea-Lotte Group)

KABUL -- At least 36 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed after the U.S. forces in Afghanistan struck their position with a large bomb in eastern Nangarhar province, the Afghan Defense Ministry said on Friday morning.
On Thursday evening, the U.S. military dropped a GBU-43 or Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb, the largest non-nuclear bomb, on an IS cave complex in Achin District, Nangahar Province bordering Pakistan. (Afghanistan-MOAB bomb)

YANGON -- Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has announced restriction of some investment activities, as some sectors will only allow investment by the state.
According to Global New Light of Myanmar Friday, sectors restricted to state investment include security and defense, arms and ammunition for national defense, national postage stamps, establishment of post offices and post boxes, air traffic, pilotage services, natural forest and forest area except businesses relating to reduction of carbon emission, radioactive metals such as uranium and thorium, electric power system and electrical works.
