Chinese VP calls for more innovation by science, technology staff

Xinhua, April 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

Vice President Li Yuanchao on Thursday urged China's scientific association to unite all science and technology (S&T) workers behind innovation-driven development.

Li made the remarks while attending a meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) in Ningbo City, east China's Zhejiang Province. Li called on the association to continue to push forward its innovation promotion project, which was initiated in 2014.

The project, which unites S&T staff to better support economic transformation and upgrading, has introduced over 10,000 science and technology experts with local governments and businesses.

The CAST should work with its branches to unite and encourage S&T workers to help with technological problems in industrial transformation and upgrading and explore more ways to drive economic growth, Li said.

Li also asked the association and its branches to help S&T workers turn their ideas into industrial products, and to offer better support for their innovation and business startups. Endi
