China says dialogue only solution to Korean Peninsula nuclear issue

Xinhua, April 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

China on Thursday reaffirmed that dialogue and consultation are the only effective way to solve the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks at a daily press briefing Thursday.

Lu said it has always been the stance of the Chinese government that dialogue and consultation are the only way to achieve denuclearization and safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

"We have taken note of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's remarks that Russia and the United States agree that the only solution to the Korean Peninsula unclear issue is political," Lu said.

"We hope all related parties will forge consensus on this general direction and fundamental principle and make concrete efforts accordingly," said Lu.

Lavrov made the remarks Wednesday after talks with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Endit
