France's business start-ups up 2.4 pct in March

Xinhua, April 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

The number of new businesses that opened shop in France rose by 2.4 percent in March after losing ground a month earlier, French national statistics bureau Insee said on Thursday.

Including self-run businesses, 47,518 new firms were registered over the period, Insee monthly figures showed.

Not counting self-managed businesses, enterprise births were up by 2.2 percent from February, according to data adjusted to account for seasonal and working-day fluctuations.

The number of new businesses jumped by 6.2 percent year-on-year during the first quarter, mainly due to transportation, and storage and real estate activities.

Insee also said 40 percent of new businesses that began over the last 12 months were micro-entrepreneurial compared to 41.5 percent a year earlier. Endit
