Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent at 3,275.96 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.63 percent higher at 10,654.08 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.68 percent to close at 1,910.48 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower Thursday due to tumble of IT stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 29,461.45, 182.03 or 0.61 percent down compared to its previous close at 29,643.48.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Thursday at 5,645 points, down 0.51 points from Wednesday's finish.

Among a total of 324 issues traded, 157 registered gains and 121 incurred losses while 46 remained unchanged.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,738.18 down 5.90 points or 0.34 percent, and the Emas was at 12,383.22 down 57.52 points or 0.46 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 51.84 points, or 0.21 percent, to 24,261.66 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,158.16 and 24,378.38.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as the yen rose against the U.S. dollar following U.S. President Donald Trump voicing concerns about the dollar's strength.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 125.77 points, or 0.68 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 18,426.84.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 19.70 points, or 0.93 percent, to settle at 2,148.61. Trading volume stood at 331 million shares worth 4.23 trillion won (3.7 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Aussie market took a fall on Thursday ahead of Australia's four-day Easter holiday period, with political uncertainty and pressure on iron ore prices weighing heavy on the index.

At the close of trade, the S&P/ASX 200 index fell 44.10 or 0.74 percent at 5,899.90, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 43.00 points or 0.72 percent at 5,925.90.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 4.88 points, or 1.38 percent, to close at 359.21.

A total of 892 shares worth 2.71 million riel (678 U.S. dollars) were traded.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 27.61 points, or 0.49 percent, to a level of 5,616.54 on Thursday.
