Over 1,000 Thais stranded at airport after being swindled by local firm

Xinhua, April 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

Over one thousand Thais, who paid for a trip to Osaka by charter flights, found they were swindled after they arrived at Bangkoks Suvarnabhumi Airport Tuesday night.

These tourists paid between 9,700 and 20,000 baht (281-580 US. Dollars) to a company called Wealth Ever for a trip to Japan between April 13 and 15 and found there was no staff of the company receiving them at the airport as promised and there was even no booked charter flights for them, Bangkok Post reported.

Many passengers have left the airport after filing a complaint and realizing they were not going to Japan, while others stayed at Suvarnabhumi because they lacked transport to return home during the Songkran break.

Thai police are gathering evidence before taking action against the company that usually sells supplement vitamins.

The police said another large group of people will show up later on Wednesday, having also fallen for the WealthEver promise of budget trips to Japan.

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board announced on Wednesday that Wealth Ever was never registered with the Board for any service including sales of the supplements. Endit
