Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid on Monday expressed confidence on her country's current peaceful security situation while calling for vigilance against hostility.

After the National Defence Council meeting, Kaljulaid said that it's too early to evaluate the international impacts of Syrian events in the longer term, insisting on the peaceful security situation in the region, said the Estonian Presidential Office in a statement.

However, it is necessary to be prepared for handling a variety of hostile information operations aimed at sowing doubt and causing confusion across Europe, Kaljulaid was quoted as saying.

As an advisory body to the Estonian President, the National Defence Council met on the latest developments of security situation in Syria and their effect, as well as the recent terrorist attacks in Saint Petersburg and Stockholm. Endit
