Egypt's Al Masry SC ready for Confederations Cup match

Xinhua, April 5, 2017 Adjust font size:

Egypt's Al Masry SC arrived in Uganda on Wednesday ahead of their first leg Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Confederations Cup tie against Uganda's KCCA FC on Saturday.

The team, which is on third in the Egyptian Premier league, is coached by Hossam Hassan, Egypt's legend who won the CAF Champions League twice and the Africa Cup of Nations three times.

"We want to get a good result in Kampala which will give us a better advantage when we play the return leg at home," said Hassan.

He said they are ready to play a very tactical game and get the results.

Star players Ahmed Shoukry and Ahmed Gomaa, who scored in the team's recent 2-0 win over ENPPI SC in Egypt, also traveled with the contingent.

KCCA FC coach, Mike Mutebi said, "We know their blend of football which is a high passing approach, but we know where to get them."

KCCA FC will however miss the services of their dependable defender Joseph Ochaya, who joined Zambian side Lusaka Dynamos two weeks ago.

The Ugandan team was ejected by South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns on a 3-2 goal aggregate in the CAF Champions League before they moved to the lower Confederations Cup.

All the teams that are eliminated in the second round of the more lucrative CAF Champions League automatically qualify for the third round of the CAF Confederations Cup. Endit
