German benchmark DAX index down 0.53 pct

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday dropped 64.80 points or 0.53 percent, to close at 12217.54 points.

Tire specialist Continental lost the most among the blue chips, with share prices decreasing by 1.52 percent, follow by health care group Fresenius Medical and chemical firm Linde that lost 1.40 percent and 1.16 percent respectively.

Commerzbank, RWE and Merck were the top three winners Wednesday, whose shares gained 2.04 percent, 0.94 percent and 0.33 percent respectively.

Deutsche Bank was the most traded share with a turnover of 253.50 million euros (about 270.68 million U.S. dollars). Endit
