Senior SPC official stresses judicial fairness

Xinhua, April 5, 2017 Adjust font size:

A senior official of China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) underscored the importance of judicial fairness on Wednesday and called on all courts to improve their work on criminal trials.

Shen Deyong, executive vice president of the SPC, made the remarks while chairing a symposium on criminal trial work in Jinan, capital city of east China's Shandong Province, the SPC said in a statement.

Courts at various levels should listen to public opinion and respond to people's concerns more actively, Shen said, adding that they should fully realize the higher requirements of judicial fairness amid growing awareness of the rule of law.

Shen asked courts to exercise their adjudicative power independently and impartially in accordance with the law, stick to the bottom line for justice and improve their credibility by carrying out fair and efficient trials. Endi
