Hong Kong stocks closed up 149.89 points, or 0.62 percent to 24,261.48 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,162.55 and 24,261.48. Turnover totaled 62.466 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.55 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday as investor sentiment was bolstered by a Bank of Japan survey indicating that sentiment had improved among large businesses and future investments would increase.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 73.97 points, or 0.39 percent, from Friday to close the day at 18,983.23.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 5.46 points, or 1.52 percent, to close at 354.9.

A total of 497 shares worth 2.05 million riel (513 U.S. dollars) were traded.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Monday down 2.44 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 26.54 points to reach 1,106.39 points after closing.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 722.38 points on Monday, up 0.07 points, or 0.01 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

A total of 72.477 million shares worth 1.645 trillion VND (73.86 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 90.92 points on Monday, up 0.1 points or 0.11 percent against the previous trading session.

Prices of 90 stocks went up; 115 stocks fell down, while 75 stocks remained unchanged.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 12.4 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 3,187.51.

A total of 2.34 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (798.9 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 273 to 189.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved up 5.75 points, or 0.36 percent to close at 1,580.86 points.

Some 7.45 billion shares worth 31.18 billion baht (about 911 million U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Monday on the first trading day of fiscal year 2017-18.
