Vietnam's vegetable, fruit exports hard to maintain growth: association

Xinhua, February 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

Vietnam's vegetable and fruit industry is facing obstacles in maintaining sustainable growth in export value at the current high level, according to Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association on Tuesday.

Vietnam's total export value of vegetables and fruits reached 2.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent. The country targeted an export value of some 3 billion U.S. dollars this year.

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable products were exported to 60 countries and regions, but trade promotion and maintenance of the freshness of these products have not met the expectations, Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA quoted the association as saying on Tuesday.

Nguyen Dinh Tung, general director of local professional fruit exporter, said that the industry needed funds for current projects on researching preservation technology for farming products. Endit
