5 injured in conflict between Syrian refugees, locals in southern Turkey

Xinhua, February 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

Five people were injured late Monday in a conflict between Syrian refugees and local residents in the southern Turkish city of Adana, local media reported Tuesday.

The conflict broke out after some neighborhood residents went into a tent of the refugees for undetermined reasons, the Hurriyet daily said, adding that the injured were two Syrians and three local residents.

During the conflict, tents were set on fire and the windows of vehicles were smashed, said the report.

Police were dispatched to the scene and confiscated some pump guns.

Adana is the fifth most populous city in Turkey, which now hosts the world's largest community of Syrian refugees.

By the end of 2016, more than 2 million Syrian refugees lived in the whole country. Endi
