Indonesia's Bangka Belitung province to host int'l motor cross, triathlon races

Indonesia's Bangka Belitung province was scheduled to host international extreme motoring sports and triathlon race in March and April, to be participated by world's top notch athletes in the respective sports.
The Indo MXGP, slated for March 4 and 5, is part of world's 2017 MXGP series with other events held in best circuits in 19 European countries, the United States, Qatar, Argentina, Malaysia and Mexico from February to September this year.
"The MXGP World Championship is a perfect stage because the event is watched by 1.42 billion TV viewers globally. We would ultimately use this event to promote further our tourism brand Wonderful Indonesia," Indonesian Tourism Arief Yahya told a press conference here on Monday.
He said such a sport tourism event would bring positive trickle own effect to regional economy as well as attracting repeater visitor to visit to Bangka Belitung province.
In the 2-day event, the minister said that drivers from 27 countries would demonstrate their skills and gathering the points to seize world champion title in Indonesian circuit located in the province's capital of Pangkal Pinang.
The minister added that the province is also scheduled to host the fifth annual international sport event of Sungailiat Triathlon with 600 athletes expected to take part in the event. Endit
