Bulgaria's agricultural producer price index decreases by 5.1 pct in Q4

Bulgaria's producer price index in agriculture in the fourth quarter of 2016 decreased by 5.1 percent in comparison with the same quarter of 2015, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Monday.

The crop output index and the animal output index decreased by 4.2 percent and 11.2 percent respectively, the NSI said.

In crop production, the prices of cereals decreased by 4.0 percent, industrial crops by 3.7 percent, vegetables by 13.8 percent and fruit by 7.7 percent, the data showed.

The prices of live animals and animal products decreased by 17.1 percent and 5.8 percent respectively, with biggest decreases observed in the prices of poultry by 35.6 percent and eggs for human consumption by 18.6 percent, the NSI said.

Meanwhile, the index of prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the fourth quarter of 2016 was 1.2 percent below the level of the same quarter of previous year, the NSI said. Endit
