French shares edge down slightly

French shares dropped on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.02 percent, or 4.59 points, to close at 4,891.29 points.

Only 14 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day. Bouygues Telecom, a French mobile and Internet service provider, soared 4.05 percent, becoming the biggest bluechip winner.

European airplane maker Airbus Group advanced 3.52 percent. French aerospace giant Safran gained 1.95 percent.

French water and waste group Veolia Environment was the biggest loser among the blue chips, with its shares plunging 5.78 percent.

Steel giant ArcelorMittal lost 2.22 percent. French bank Credit Agricole was down 1.98 percent. Endit
