Afghan forces kill 12 IS militants, wounds 2 in eastern Nangarhar province

A total of 12 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS) group have been killed and two others injured in Haska Mina district of the eastern Nangarhar province over the past 24 hours, spokesman for provincial government Attaullah Khogiani said Thursday.

The government security forces backed by airpower began attacking IS hideouts in Gargari area of Haska Mina district since Wednesday and so far 12 insurgents have been killed, two others injured and the militants weapon cache was destroyed, the official asserted.

IS outfit has yet to make comment.

A cleanup operations backed by airpower has been continuing against IS fighters in Haska Mina, Kot district and adjoining areas over the past couple of weeks.

Nangarhar province with Jalalabad as its capital 120 km east of Kabul has been the scene of IS militants' activities over the past two years. Endit
