Speed skater Lee Seung-hoon won his fourth Asian Winter Games gold medal from the men's mass start race on Thursday.

Lee completed his 16-lap race as the winner among 12 skaters at Obihiro Forest Speed Skating Rink, some 200 kilometers east of Sapporo.

Speed skating drew to an end with South Korea sweeping six gold medals, five of them on the men's side. The other men's gold went to China's Gao Tingyu over 500 meters.

Lee, who also won gold in the 5,000m, 10,000m and team pursuit, is the first South Korean to win four gold medals at one Asian Winter Games.

A bit earlier, Kim Min-seok won South Korea's fifth speed skating gold from the men's 1,500 meters.

The 17-year-old Kim clocked the winning time of 1:46.26, while Takuro Oda of Japan took the silver, half a second behind the South Korean.

Japanese Taro Kondo had the bronze in 1:47.88.

Kim earlier won the team pursuit gold with Lee Seung-hoon and Joo Hyong-jun on Wednesday.

Japanese skaters finished 1-2 in the women's mass start, as Miho Takagi timed 8:21.81, 0.07 seconds ahead of second-placed Ayano Sato.

South Korea's Kim Bo-Reum got the bronze in 8:47.46.

Chinese skaters Guo Dan and Han Mei finished fifth and seventh respectively. Enditem
