Ghanaian president swears-in third batch of ministers

The Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo late Friday swore in office the third and final batch of 11 ministerial nominees that have received parliamentary approval for appointment as ministers.

The ceremony took place at the Flagstaff House in Accra, where the appointees took the oaths of allegiance, minister and secrecy.

President Akufo-Addo urged them to see the opportunity of ministerial appointment as an avenue for service to Ghanaians and the nation, service which should be discharged with humility.

"It is not meant to allow you to lord it over the citizenry," he charged the new ministers, stressing the requirement of integrity in the exercise of their functions.

"You are here to advance the public interest, not your personal fortunes, for you have been called to public service. You must, therefore, comply quickly with the obligation to file your asset declarations," the president said.

Friday's appointment brought to 36 the number of substantive ministers sworn into office. Endit
