--Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn congratulated the newly elected Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.

--Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome and Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held discussion in Ankara, Turkey.
President Mulatu hailed the discussion they had on wide-ranging issues as "fruitful and productive," according to Anadolu, a Turkish news agency.

--Turkey's Ankara University presented Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome with a certificate of friendship on Wednesday for his contributions to developing relations between Turkey and African states during his seven-year ambassadorship to Ankara.
During a visit to Ankara University's presidency as part of a five-day visit to the Turkish capital, President Mulatu said he was happy to see that the Ethiopian students enrolled at Turkey's first public university were building bridges between the two nations. --A million trees are to be planted in Ethiopia to fight deforestation around camps hosting hundreds of thousands of South Sudanese refugees who rely almost entirely on wood for fuel, a United Nations agency said on Wednesday.
The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said the trees would be planted on 150 hectares of land in Ethiopia's western Gambella region to meet the growing refugee population's demand for energy. (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation/EBC) Endit
