President Uhuru Kenyatta denied Sunday that the country's economy is struggling, insisting that his government is steering the nation in the right direction against the negative tide other nations are experiencing.

His assurance follows news of several companies were either posting huge losses or closing shop, forcing thousands out of their jobs. The President, through his spokesperson, noted that the growth of economy has averaged 6 percent -- double the global average of around three per cent. (The Standard)

New Opposition outfit National Super Alliance has pledged to unite Kenyans across the ethnic divide and increase funding to counties from the current 15 percent to 50 percent. The alliance would move around the country selling the two ideas as campaigns gather pace. (Daily Nation)
