British shares gain on Friday

British shares rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 index up by 0.67 percent, or 47.55 points, to close at 7,188.3 points.

Share price of private hospital group Mediclinic International increased by 3.55 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips.

Admiral Group, a motor insurance company, advanced 3.32 percent. Baning firm Barclays gained 3.04 percent.

The top loser of the blue chips was Glencore plc., a commodity trading and mining company, whose shares tumbled 5.25 percent.

Other mining companies also lost. Rio Tinto dropped by 3.67 percent, and BHP Billiton by 3.12 percent. Endit
