S. African stocks continue to report losses on Friday

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) remained weaker on Friday, pulled down primarily by commodity shares.

The all share index was off 0.86 percent at 52,265.16 points at close of session, as the resource 20 and platinum indexes dropped 2.85 percent and 4.05 percent, respectively.

The South Africa rand was R13.27 to one U.S. dollar, a British pound costing R16.52 and a euro costing R14.29 at 5 p.m. (CAT).

Gold had risen 0.13 percent to sell at 1216.83 U.S. dollars an ounce.

Anglo American was off 4.56 percent at R222.35, with BHP Billiton dropping 3.87 percent to R232.31 and Glencore giving up 5.49 percent to R51.85.

Kumba Iron Ore retreated 7.96 percent to R196.05. Impala Platinum Holdings slid 6.57 percent to R51.2.

Sibanye lost 3.69 percent to R30, with Anglo American Platinum losing 3.49 percent to R350.55 and Impala Platinum giving up 3.87 percent to R52.68.

British American Tobacco was up 0.24 percent to R819 while Richemont lost 1.95 percent to R101.08. Endit
