Atletico defender Lucas arrested for domestic violence

Atletico Madrid's young French defender, Lucas Hernandez was arrested by Spanish police in the early hours of Friday morning on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, the Spanish press reports.

The detention was carried out at around 2am in Lucas' residence in the town of Las Rozas, to the north of Madrid.

The 20-year-old was reported to have been inebriated at the time of his arrest and both he and his partner were confirmed to have 'minor injuries'. The player was taken to a police station, while his girlfriend was taken to hospital to receive treatment.

Lucas appeared in court around mid-morning on Friday and was accused of domestic violence against his girlfriend with the judge placing a restraining order on them, forbidding them to approach each other.

When asked about the incident in his Friday press conference, Atletico coach Diego Simeone said he preferred not to comment over an issue he knew "nothing" about. Endit
