NATO stands ready to activate BiH's MAP: NATO chief

NATO stands ready to activate Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)'s Membership Action Plan (MAP), once all immovable defence properties have been registered to the state, visiting NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said here on Thursday.

"BiH is a candidate for membership in NATO. And you have the necessary tools to move towards the Alliance," said Stoltenberg during a joint press conference with Mladen Ivanic, Chairman of the Presidency of BiH.

The secretary-general hailed the reforms that BiH is making in the defence and security sector and appreciated BiH's contribution to fighting international terrorism through presence in Afghanistan.

For his part, Ivanic said that BiH Presidency has reached full political consensus to activate the MAP as soon as possible. Endit
