Ukraine's farm product exports up 4.5 pct in 2016

Xinhua, February 2, 2017 Adjust font size:

Ukraine exported farm products worth 15.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, up 4.5 percent from 2015, the government said Thursday.

"Our traditional exports items, such as grain, oils and oilseeds still lead the overseas supplies. Besides, soy, sugar and meat entered the top-10 exports positions," Olga Trofimtseva, Ukraine's deputy agriculture minister, was quoted as saying in a statement.

Last year, farm products sales generated 42.5 percent of Ukraine's total export value, Trofimtseva said.

Ukraine seeks to further increase exports by diversifying goods and sales markets, she said.

Asia and Europe remained the largest destinations for Ukraine's farm product exports, taking up 46 percent and 27.5 percent respectively. Endi
