Bulgaria's construction activity grows in Q4

The numbers of started new buildings and issued building permits in Bulgaria increased in the fourth quarter of 2016, the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Thursday.

In the fourth quarter of 2016, construction began on 720 residential buildings as did the construction of 536 other types of buildings, the NSI said.

As compared to the fourth quarter of 2015, the number of new residential buildings that were started rose by 16.3 percent.

The other types of buildings that began construction rose by 14.5 percent, the NSI added.

Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter of 2016, the authorities issued building permits for the construction of 1,122 residential buildings, and 1,538 permits for other types of buildings.

The number of building permits issued for new residential buildings increased by 6.3 percent year on year, while permits for other types of buildings soared 33.3 percent, statistics showed. Endit
