The resolution adopted by the European Parliaments Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday has given the Albanian side a strong impetus to press ahead with reform, Albanian Minister of European Integration Klajda Gjosha told a press conference Wednesday.

According to Gjosha, the reforms would step up the fight against corruption and organized crimes as well as swiftly complete the electoral reform in the country, local media reported.

These are the key criteria that will raise standards of democracy and will advance the country's EU integration process, Gjosha said at the press statement.

She further noted that the EP resolution, which called for constructive dialogue and readiness for political consensus, clearly indicated the hard work ahead, with all stakeholders working together and constantly reminding that European integration tops Albania's agenda.

The MEPs of the European Parliament approved Tuesday a resolution calling on Albania to implement EU-related reforms credibly, and ensure that the June parliamentary elections are free and fair.

According to EP, the achievement of these targets will be crucial for Albania to start EU accession negotiations. Endit
