Ukraine increases military exports by 25 pct in 2016

Ukraine increased the exports of military products by 25 percent in 2016, the country's defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom said on Monday.

"Last year, we supplied abroad 750 million U.S. dollars worth of goods," Denys Gurak, deputy head of Ukroboronprom told reporters during a media briefing in Kiev.

He said that two-thirds of the exported products were produced by the government-controlled companies, while the rest were manufactured by the private firms.

Besides, in 2016, Ukroboronprom signed exports contracts totally worth 1.5 billion U.S. dollars, Gurak said.

Established in 2010, Ukroboronprom unites more than 100 Ukrainian defense industry enterprises.

According to the latest report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Ukroboronprom ranked 81st among the world's top 100 arms-producing and military services companies. Endit
