Spanish treasury places 2.6 bln-euro treasury bills on market at negative interest rates

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills with a value of 2.6 billion euros (2.7 billion U.S. dollars) at negative interest rates.

A total of 2.27 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.34 percent, and the remaining 410 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.47 percent.

This auction was the first one held after Donald Trump took office in the United States and the last one in the month of January. The treasury will hold more auctions in February. Endit
