Polish export to boost in 2017: experts

Xinhua, January 21, 2017 Adjust font size:

After a year of slowdown, the dynamics of Polish export in 2017 should significantly increase, with the greatest revival likely in the second half of the year, Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) reported.

According to the PAIiIZ's report published on Thursday, some analysts and experts forecast about 5 percent increase in Polish exports of goods and services in 2017.

In the last year, the speed of growth was only 1.5 percent, which was mostly caused by the weakening sales results in Germany, Poland's main trade partner.

PAIiIZ President Tomasz Pisula believes that diversification of export directions, basing on new markets outside Europe might be a good solution to such problems. This includes China, as a good opportunity for Polish food products, especially the eco-food. Apart from China, the non-European potential export markets also include Vietnam, Iran and India.

The year of 2017 is supposed to be more favorable to export due to a visible revival of world's trade situation and the recent weakening of currency in Poland, which might contribute to the price competitiveness of Polish products. Enditem
