1st LD: 6.5-magnitude earthquake rocks Solomon Islands

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of the Solomon Islands, 67 km west of the town of Kirakira early on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The earthquake was registered at a depth of 29.9 km, according to the latest figures released.

No tsunami warning has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center or Australian authorities, and no damage has been reported. Endit
