Second largest Bangladesh mobile operator develops retailers in partnership with IFC

Xinhua, January 19, 2017 Adjust font size:

Bangladesh's second largest mobile phone operator Robi has trained hundreds of its retailers under a Retailer Development Program carried out in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The overall knowledge from this event will help organizers scale up initiative, allowing a greater number of retailers from all over the country to take advantage of world class retailer development practices, said the mobile phone operator in a statement on Thursday.

Robi and IFC, the private sector lending arm of the World Bank Group, had signed a cooperation agreement in March 2016, paving the way for undertaking this retailer development initiative.

Robi said IFC's proprietary training product was used to conduct the training while Sheba limited is the execution partner for the initiative.

Some 238 retailers took part in the training program, it said.

Robi said this would open an avenue for retailers to develop their business and attain success. Enditem
