Xinhua, January 19, 2017 Adjust font size:

The air quality in south China's manufacturing hub Guangdong Province improved last year, statistics show.

The province reported 92.7 percent "good air" days in 2016 while the annual average for the major air pollution index PM 2.5 was 32 micrograms per cubic meter, down 5.9 percent from a year earlier, according to the provincial environmental protection bureau.

PM 2.5 is used to measure particulate matters with a diameter smaller than 2.5 micrometers. The national standard is set at 35 micrometers per cubic meter.

Decreases were also seen in the concentrations of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and PM 10. Endi
