Freezing weather claims 4 lives in N. Afghan province

Xinhua, January 18, 2017 Adjust font size:

Snowfall and chilly weather have claimed the lives of four persons in Wakhan district of Badakhshan province with Faizabad as capital, said Ahmad Nawed Frotan, spokesman for the provincial government, on Wednesday.

"Four people including three women and a man lost their lives due to freezing weather in Pamir-e-Khord area of Wakhan district last night and the rescue team arrived in the area this morning to help the affected families," Frotan told Xinhua.

Six more people including three women who have sustained injuries have been shifted to Tajikistan for medical treatment.

Heavy snowfall and chilly weather have disrupted the connection between provincial capital Faizabad to nine districts over the past few days. Enditem
